I am blessed to have several mentors in my life to guide me in different aspects of who I want to become. I have a former teacher, Dr. Keifer, who helps me make decisions regarding how to be successful in my career in general. She asks the right questions to help me identify my motives, desires, and boundaries.
I also have another mentor, Dr. Ronan, who has spent a lifetime counseling, teaching, and leading programs related to psychology and counseling. She helps me find my blind spots, and challenges my thinking with her open-ended questions, especially on topics I'm not as familiar with.
They guide me, teach me, and cause me to care more deeply about my clients. During my time as an LAC with Recovia, my third mentor, Dr. Evan Espinosa, not only was my Clinical Supervisor, but he also helped me understand new perspectives so that I can better serve my clients in the future.
